The USGS is a federal agency that
serves the nation by providing reliable scientific information to:
a) describe and understand the earth; b) minimize loss of life and
property from natural disasters; c) manage water, biological,
energy, and mineral resources; and d) enhance and protect our
quality of life. One of the services USGS provides is establishing
a network of monitoring/gauging stations on hundreds of streams
across the country. They have two stations on Nimishillen Creek.
