Upper Tuscarawas
River Watershed
The Upper Tuscarawas River Watershed is a diverse area
covering portions of
Medina,
Portage,
Stark,
Summit, and
Wayne Counties in Northeast Ohio. Cities or Villages which
drain into the river include
Akron,
Massillon, Fairlawn,
Barberton, and
Canal Fulton. This area also contains a group
of 14 natural and man-made lakes that are collectively known
as the Portage Lakes, a popular recreational area south
of Akron. The Upper Tuscarawas River was also part of the
historic
Ohio & Erie Canal, and its remnants are now
part of the Ohio & Erie Canal Scenic Byway for all
to enjoy.
