Northeast Ohio Four
County Regional Planning and Development Organization (NEFCO), the
Upper Tuscarawas River Watershed Coordinator, and the
Nimishillen
Creek Watershed Partners have worked with watershed stakeholders
to revise and update the Nimishillen Creek Comprehensive Watershed
Management Plans (CWMPs). An update was needed to:
-
Better guide local
stakeholders in implementing water quality improvement efforts;
-
Incorporate new
watershed information;
-
Consolidate the
previous four CWMP Phases into a single document;
-
Satisfy new state
endorsement requirements for watershed plans; and
-
Put the
Nimishillen Creek Watershed in better position to compete for
limited outside funding.
Below is the FINAL REPORT
for the new Nimishillen Creek Watershed - State Action
Plan. Thank you to everyone who assisted with the
its
completion. I am pleased to announce that the Action Plan was accepted by NEFCO's General Policy Board on June 21, 2006.
The Action Plan will now be
submitted to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for State endorsement review.
The endorsement review by the State will take approximately one
month to complete.
The Nimishillen Creek
Watershed -State Action Plan was recently updated (January 26,
2007) to incorporate comments received during the evaluation by
Ohio EPA and Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) for State
endorsement.
