Stream Activities Currently Include:

- Electro Fish Shocking Demonstration by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources
- Habitat Assessment Demonstration by the Ohio EPA
- Aquatic Insects (Macroinvertebrate) Sampling by the Nimishillen Creek Watershed Partners

- Other Fun Stream Activities

The Nimishillen Creek Watershed Partners are pleased to announce the 10th annual Nimishillen Creek LEAP clean-up will be held at the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum in Canton.  The 2011 clean-up will include the section of creek upstream and downstream of the of the Library between Fulton Road NW and Navarre Road SW along the West Branch of Nimishillen Creek.  

 

Volunteers are needed to help pick up debris along this section of the West Branch.  Those interested are asked to meet at 9:30 am at McKinley Presidential Library and Museum parking lot.  From there volunteers will be directed to clean-up sites along the creek.  Volunteer will be treated to a free lunch, "thank you" gift, have access to the museum, and have the opportunity to participate in interactive stream activities with environmental professionals from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio EPA, and other local organizations. 

 

What to Bring and Wear:

  • Clothes that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy

  • A change of clothes to enjoy the museum activities

  • Rubber soled shoes, hiking boots, or waders

  • Long pants and long-sleeve shirt

  • Bug repellent

  • Leave your valuables behind (things you don’t want to get wet or lost in the Creek!)

  • Gloves, trash bags, and other cleaning supplies will be provided

Waiver Forms:

For faster registration the day of the event, you can print out the waiver form below and bring it to the clean-up.  All participants under the age of 18 must have the minor waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.  

Parking:

  • You can park your vehicle at the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum parking lot.
