Sixth Annual Nimishillen Creek LEAP

Litter Elimination, Awareness and Prevention

City of Louisville & Nimishillen Township

Saturday, September 22, 2007

"This was the best LEAP yet!" said a volunteer after another successful clean-up along Nimishillen Creek in the City of Louisville and Nimishillen Township.

The Nimishillen Creek Watershed Partners would like to thank the over 40 volunteers and event sponsors for making the September 22 Creek LEAP another successful event.  Over 20 tires were removed and enough trash to fill up a 10-yard trash bin.  The most interesting item removed from Nimishillen Creek was a full size trampoline.  But what made this event unique from previous LEAPs was the removal of 4 log jams that were causing local flooding and water quality problems.  Special thanks to the Stark Parks for assisting with log jam removals.

The Watershed Partners were able to hold such a successful event thanks largely to the support from LEAP Sponsors.  These sponsors, listed at the bottom of the page, covered all the event costs including equipment and supplies like dumpsters, trash hauling, rakes, shovels, gloves, trash bags, food and beverage.  Below are some pictures of the 2007 Creek LEAP provided by Bryan Daniels, Pam Feagler, and NEFCO.
