he Total Maximum Daily
Load (TMDL) program, established under Section 303(d) of the Clean
Water Act
(33 U.S.C. 1313), focuses on identifying and restoring polluted
rivers, streams, lakes and other surface waterbodies. A TMDL is a
written, quantitative assessment of water quality problems in a
waterbody and contributing sources of pollution. It specifies the
amount a pollutant needs to be reduced to meet
water quality standards (WQS), allocates pollutant load
reductions, and provides the basis for taking actions needed to
restore a waterbody.
Ohio EPA's 2004 Integrated Water Quality
Monitoring and Assessment
Report
This report produced
every 2 years by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
provides a summary of water quality of water resources throughout
Ohio. The report indicates the general condition of Ohio’s
waters and lists those waters, like Nimishillen Creek, that are
currently not meeting water quality standards. The link
below is to the most recent Ohio Integrated Report which was
completed in 2004.
