A public meeting has been scheduled to inform citizens about amendments to the Clean Water Plan for the NEFCO region.  This meeting is being conducted by the Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning and Development Organization (NEFCO), the areawide planning agency for Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties.  Together with local public officials throughout the region, NEFCO's General Policy Board has approved several amendments to Chapter 3 of the Plan.  This chapter deals with wastewater management facilities planning.  The amendments detail specific wastewater approaches as requested by the local or county governments.  A listing of the plan amendments can be found here. 

Time permitting, NEFCO staff will also describe some of the Clean Water Plan Update activities that will be occurring in 2010.  NEFCO has been the designated by the governor of the State of Ohio under provisions of the Clean Water Act to perform water quality planning for the four-county region, and is one of six areawide planning agencies in Ohio charged with this responsibility.

Written comments on the Plan amendments should be sent to NEFCO no later than 4:00 p.m. February 9, 2010.
